      <MainHeadline>Editorial</MainHeadline><Pgraph>Future human mental and physical health depends on addressing the climate crisis.</Pgraph><Pgraph>So simple.</Pgraph><Pgraph>So complex.</Pgraph><Pgraph>And yet the climate crisis threatens to fade into the background in light of the numerous other crises that are taking place around the world, each of which confronts us with barely manageable tasks <TextLink reference="1"></TextLink>: The Corona crisis, Ukraine crisis, economic crisis, migration crisis.</Pgraph><Pgraph>We &#8211; as public health representatives and workers &#8211; have different roles and responsibilities in the face of the central threat to humanity posed by the climate crisis:</Pgraph><Pgraph><UnorderedList><ListItem level="1">As practitioners, we will be faced with an increase in mental and physical illnesses that are directly and indirectly related to global warming. Many insightful textbooks now exist and are at our disposal for orientation <TextLink reference="1"></TextLink>, <TextLink reference="2"></TextLink>, <TextLink reference="3"></TextLink>.</ListItem><ListItem level="1">As bearers of responsibility and role models within our society, we have the scientific and communicative competencies to inform people about the climate crisis and its effects, to initiate transformation processes <TextLink reference="1"></TextLink>, <TextLink reference="4"></TextLink>, and to join interest groups <TextLink reference="5"></TextLink>, <TextLink reference="6"></TextLink>, <TextLink reference="7"></TextLink>.</ListItem><ListItem level="1">As representatives of the health care system, we are, on the one hand, guarantors of human health, and, on the other hand, we represent a system that is responsible for 4.4&#37; of global CO<Subscript>2</Subscript> emissions. In order to have a realistic chance of overcoming the climate crisis, we must also drastically reduce CO<Subscript>2</Subscript> emissions in the healthcare system. Here, we can take action in the form of sustainability initiatives <TextLink reference="8"></TextLink> or in the context of programs that monitor and attempt to reduce emitted CO<Subscript>2</Subscript> <TextLink reference="9"></TextLink>.</ListItem><ListItem level="1">Last but not least, we as lecturers and teachers are challenged to promote and deepen knowledge and action skills around the climate crisis and planetary health <TextLink reference="10"></TextLink>.</ListItem></UnorderedList></Pgraph><Pgraph>This special issue &#8220;Climate crisis and planetary health in teaching&#8221; aims to raise awareness and motivate the development and establishment of courses and curricula on the climate crisis and planetary health. At the same time, many medical faculties already have thematically overloaded curricula, and the implementation of the new medical licensing regulations is just around the corner. Therefore, university and teaching hospitals are facing major challenges. Nevertheless, integrating the issues surrounding the climate crisis and planetary health, as well as professionalizing related education, training, and continuing education, is an imperative.</Pgraph><Pgraph>This special issue provides insights into current developments, some of which are &#8220;in their infancy&#8221; or already highly differentiated &#8211; a valuable thematic mosaic:</Pgraph><Pgraph>Schwienhorst-Stich et al. <TextLink reference="11"></TextLink> and B&#246;kels et al. <TextLink reference="12"></TextLink> deal with an inventory of courses on planetary health in the national and international context. A needs assessment at the student level is presented by Rybol et al. <TextLink reference="13"></TextLink>. Initiatives of (online) electives on environment, climate, and planetary health and climate communication in climate science are presented by Fl&#228;gel et al. <TextLink reference="14"></TextLink>, F&#252;lbert et al. <TextLink reference="15"></TextLink>, Schmid et al. <TextLink reference="16"></TextLink>, M&#252;ller et al. <TextLink reference="17"></TextLink> and Lemke et al. <TextLink reference="18"></TextLink>. Grundacker et al. <TextLink reference="19"></TextLink> initiated a course on medical ecology, Jonas et al. <TextLink reference="20"></TextLink> a seminar on future scenarios. Innnovative ideas for raising awareness related to climate change and planetary health are presented by Praschinger et al. <TextLink reference="21"></TextLink> and Stra&#223;er et al. <TextLink reference="22"></TextLink>. Impulses for planetary health in continuing education and training are presented by Rieser et al. <TextLink reference="23"></TextLink>.</Pgraph></TextBlock>

      <MainHeadline>Leitartikel</MainHeadline><Pgraph>Die zuk&#252;nftige psychische und physische Gesundheit der Menschen h&#228;ngt von der Bew&#228;ltigung der Klimakrise ab.</Pgraph><Pgraph>So einfach.</Pgraph><Pgraph>So komplex.</Pgraph><Pgraph>Und doch droht die Klimakrise in Anbetracht der zahlreichen anderen, weltweiten Krisen in den Hintergrund zu geraten, denn jede f&#252;r sich genommen stellt uns bereits vor kaum zu bew&#228;ltigende Aufgaben <TextLink reference="1"></TextLink>: Coronakrise, Ukrainekrise, Wirtschaftskrise, Migrationskrise.</Pgraph><Pgraph>Wir &#8211; als Vertreter&#42;innen und Mitarbeiter&#42;innen des Gesundheitswesens &#8211; haben in Anbetracht der zentralen Bedrohung der Menschheit durch die Klimakrise unterschiedliche Rollen und Verantwortungen:</Pgraph><Pgraph><UnorderedList><ListItem level="1">Als Behandler&#42;innen werden wir mit einer Zunahme von psychischen und k&#246;rperlichen Erkrankungen konfrontiert sein, die in direktem und indirektem Zusammenhang mit der globalen Erw&#228;rmung stehen. Hier existieren mittlerweile viele wunderbare Lehrb&#252;cher als Orientierung zur Verf&#252;gung <TextLink reference="1"></TextLink>, <TextLink reference="2"></TextLink>, <TextLink reference="3"></TextLink>.</ListItem><ListItem level="1">Als Verantwortungstr&#228;ger&#42;innen und Rollenmodelle innerhalb unserer Gesellschaft haben wir die wissenschaftlichen und kommunikativen Kompetenzen, Menschen &#252;ber die Klimakrise und deren Auswirkungen zu informieren, Transformationsprozesse anzusto&#223;en <TextLink reference="1"></TextLink>, <TextLink reference="4"></TextLink> und uns Interessensgruppen anzuschlie&#223;en <TextLink reference="5"></TextLink>, <TextLink reference="6"></TextLink>, <TextLink reference="7"></TextLink>.</ListItem><ListItem level="1">Als Vertreter&#42;innen des Gesundheitssystems sind wir einerseits Garanten f&#252;r die menschliche Gesundheit, andererseits vertreten wir ein System, dass ma&#223;geblich mit 4,4&#37; weltweit zur CO<Subscript>2</Subscript>-Emission beitr&#228;gt. Um eine realistische Chance zur Bew&#228;ltigung der Klimakrise zu haben, m&#252;ssen wir auch im Gesundheitswesen die CO<Subscript>2</Subscript>-Emissionen drastisch senken. Hier k&#246;nnen wir in Form von Nachhaltigkeitsinitiativen <TextLink reference="8"></TextLink> oder im Kontext von Programmen, die das ausgesto&#223;ene CO<Subscript>2</Subscript> monitoren und versuchen zu reduzieren, aktiv werden <TextLink reference="9"></TextLink>.</ListItem><ListItem level="1">Nicht zuletzt sind wir als Dozent&#42;innen und Lehrende aufgefordert, das Wissen und Handlungskompetenzen rund um das Thema Klimakrise und planetare Gesundheit zu f&#246;rdern und zu vertiefen <TextLink reference="10"></TextLink>.</ListItem></UnorderedList></Pgraph><Pgraph>Das vorliegende Themenheft &#8222;Klimakrise und planetare Gesundheit in der Lehre&#8220; hat das Ziel, f&#252;r die Entwicklung und Etablierung von Lehrveranstaltungen und Curricula zur Klimakrise und planetaren Gesundheit zu sensibilisieren und zu motivieren. Gleichzeitig haben viele medizinische Fakult&#228;ten bereits thematisch &#252;berfrachtete Curricula und die Umsetzung der neuen &#228;rztlichen Approbationsordnung steht vor der T&#252;r. Universit&#228;tsklinika und Lehrkrankenh&#228;user stehen somit vor gro&#223;en Herausforderungen. Dennoch stellt die Integration der Themen rund um die Klimakrise und planetare Gesundheit sowie die Professionalisierung der diesbez&#252;glichen Aus-, Fort- und Weiterbildung einen Imperativ dar.</Pgraph><Pgraph>Das vorliegende Themenheft gibt Einblicke in aktuelle Entwicklungen, die zum Teil &#8222;in den Kinderschuhen&#8220; stecken oder bereits sehr ausdifferenziert sind &#8211; ein wertvolles thematisches Mosaik:</Pgraph><Pgraph>Mit einer Bestandsaufnahme zu Lehrveranstaltungen zur Planetaren Gesundheit im nationalen und internationalen Kontext besch&#228;ftigen sich Schwienhorst-Stich et al. <TextLink reference="11"></TextLink> und B&#246;kels et al. <TextLink reference="12"></TextLink>. Eine Bedarfsanalyse auf studentischer Ebene pr&#228;sentieren Rybol et al. <TextLink reference="13"></TextLink>. Initiativen von (online-)Wahlf&#228;chern zu Umwelt, Klima und planetarer Gesundheit und Klimakommunikation in der Klimasprechstunde werden von Fl&#228;gel et al. <TextLink reference="14"></TextLink>, F&#252;lbert et al. <TextLink reference="15"></TextLink>, Schmid et al. <TextLink reference="16"></TextLink>, M&#252;ller et al. <TextLink reference="17"></TextLink> und Lemke et al. <TextLink reference="18"></TextLink> vorgestellt.
