Der Bundesverband Deutsche OphthalmoChirurgie e. V. (BDOC) lädt Augenärzte aus Deutschland und der ganzen Welt ein, ihre Fallberichte aus der Augenheilkunde einer breiten Öffentlichkeit zu präsentieren. Der BDOC unterstützt Open Access, um Wissen in der medizinischen Fachwelt zu verbreiten und damit die medizinische Versorgung zu verbessern. Deshalb gibt der BDOC GMS Ophthalmology Cases heraus und organisiert das Begutachtungsverfahren der Zeitschrift. GMS Ophthalmology Cases erhebt von seinen Autoren weder Publikationsgebühren (APCs) noch Einreichungsgebühren.
